Top Ten Reasons Why Church Planting Should Be THE Goal of Every Missions Ministry

  1. Jesus had only one building program; He said, “I will build my church.” Matt. 16:18

  2. Jesus loved and gave His life for the church.  Eph. 5:25

  3. God’s eternal purpose was and still is to show His manifold wisdom through the church. Eph. 3:10-11

  4. God intends that He get glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever.  Eph. 3:21

  5. The Apostles and those who received the Great Commission directly obeyed and fulfilled it by planting churches.

  6. The Great Commission cannot be fulfilled without local churches coming into being.  Matt. 28:16-20

  7. Jesus placed highest priority on the significance and centrality of local churches in the last book of the New Testament.  Rev. 2-3

  8. Paul consistently appeals to local churches as the nexus of all Christian worship, edification, and outreach.  See all his epistles!

  9. Paul teaches and encourages his missionary colleagues, Timothy and Titus, to organize local churches and church ministries.

  10. The practice of all the missionaries of the New Testament was to leave local churches as the ongoing, long-lasting center of indigenous ministry.

Thus, the local church is the initiator, the means, and the ends of Gospel missions ministry.

The Bible knows nothing of mission strategies and methods, including all humanitarian and relief ministries, NOT consciously connected to starting, strengthening, and sustaining indigenous local churches.
