Istanbul, the Hagia Sophia Mosque and Sultan Ahmed Blue Mosque
Istanbul, Turkey
What an amazing city!
The European side of Istanbul in half – the old city of Constantinople. The Ottoman Turks conquered the city in 1453.
You can see the Hagia Sophia Church/Mosque/Museum towards the top of the photo. It was originally a church built around 537-565 AD. It was converted into a Mosque, and added the minarets after the Ottomans conquered Istanbul in 1453. For the last 70 some years it has been a museum; with many visitors daily. Then in foreground is the Sultan Ahmet Mosque or Blue Mosque (with 6 minarets).
Pray for the Muslim people of Turkey.
